Introducing This is Me – a new tool to support neurodivergent children and young people
Based on feedback from parents, carers, children and young people, Cheshire and Merseyside have launched a new way of supporting children with neurodiverse needs. A key part of this is the This is Me profiling tool.
What is the This is Me profiling tool?
The tool helps identify the strengths and needs of neurodivergent children and young people as early as possible.
It focuses on how a child thinks and learns differently, so that families, schools, and other professionals can work together to put the right support in place at home, at school, and in the community.
It involves children, young people and families completing the profile with a practitioner as the first step in accessing earlier help and tailored support.
The tool has already been used successfully implemented in Portsmouth and other areas. It has now been adapted for Cheshire and Merseyside.
When will it be available?
In Halton, This is Me will be introduced from November, starting with a small number of children. This phased approach will allow us to test, learn, and improve the support we provide.
